A monumental & exceptional later 15th century Spanish statue of Jesus Christ. Exquisitely carved from Mulberry and Chestnut woods. The head is carved from Mulberry and the body is carved from chestnut. The carving detail is breathtaking. The form of the hair and the pointed beard are typical of this period. The eyes are made from sulphur. The polychrome has a magnificent patina. The statue rests on a more recent base. Indeed a truly exceptional work of art.
