A monumental and stunning Spanish 17th century oil on canvas painting of Saint Francis arriving at Damietta in 1219 during the 5th crusade. Saint Francis went to Egypt to try and convert the Sultan to Christianity and attempt to end the crusade. Exquisite detail throughout.
