French 19th Century Canto - Bench FTP1954

A very charming 19th century Canto - Bench from the Ardeche region of France. Soundly constructed from handsome chestnut. Benches such as this were positioned near - or partially in the large cooking fireplaces of grand chateaux. The kitchen staff would sit and work while keeping warm. The seat height is 16 3/4".
