Outstanding Italian 17th Century Traveling Prayer Table TRI396

A very rare and outstanding 17th century traveling prayer table from the Veneto area of Italy. Such a table was taken along on voyages so that the owner could pray and meditate. Wonderful painted finish and wonderful carvings. The top lifts to expose interior compartments - two of which open to reveal two bronze candle holders. Originally, the legs folded under to allow for easier transportation. The legs have since been stabilized. A true museum piece.
